To support the purchase of our 650T machine with the production of larger components we have invested in a new Global Performance 7.10.7 co-ordinate measuring machine which replaces our existing DEA Swift CMM. This machine has a larger bedsize when compared with the current DEA Swift machine allowing us to measure 700mm X 1000mm X 660 (X, Y & Z axis). It also carries a Tesastar indexable probe head which has 2.5 degree incremental movement. This is a much smaller incremental movement than the outgoing CMM allowing for easier and more adaptable measurement of complex components.
This new Global Performance model can scan up to 35% faster when compared with previous generations of Global models. This has been achieved through optimized motion algorithms, enhanced software and a new electronic controller.
The software with this system is the latest version of the PC-DMIS CAD++. It can take a customer’s CAD data and make a direct comparison with what has been measured.
The new CMM will be delivered and commissioned at PEP in June ‘16.
