The investment in our fully equipped in-house toolroom continues in 2017 with a new for old machine replacement with PEP purchasing a Romi CNC (D1000) 4 Axis Machining Centre with a Siemens Control System. This replaces our old Mikron CNC UME 900 machining centre.
This machine is similar to the current 3 axis version that we bought 2 years ago except that it has the addition of the 4th axis for cylindrical work, thus making this machine more versatile. It can handle 30 tool changes automatically and has a touch probe fitted to check the work being machined whilst it is still in the machine.
This machine incorporates a 10,000 rmp BT-40 through coolant machine spindle configuration driven by a 22.4 Kw spindle motor. It offers a table size of 1220 x 560mm, with X/Y/Z travels of 1020/ 610/ 640mm with a table load capacity of 1000 kg.
This particular machine is fitted with the latest Siemens 828-D CNC control unit including Shopmill conversational programming with 3D graphics
The purchase of this machine shows PEP’s commitment to continuous improvement in technology and reducing leadtimes for new tooling.
